SHAMANIC HEALING PRACTICE Bexhill-on-Sea, East Sussex

Steph Toogood, Physiotherapist

I had the pleasure of attending a fire walk evening hosted by Rachel Streeter, a certified Sundoor fire walk instructor. The fire walk was preceded by an exercise in breaking limited beliefs by placing the point of an arrow between but just below the collar bones and leaning into a target thereby channelling the intention into the force required to break the shaft of the arrow. The fire walk also required a focus on the limiting belief to push through the fear of walking on burning wood embers. It really can help with mental strength, resilience and achievement to overcome personal struggles.

Fire walking

Walking over fire has been around since 1200BC in all countries and cultures.

It is an ancient art that has been used within communities for many reasons including; rites of passage, purification, initiation, healing, and celebration rituals.

The First Firewalk

The earliest recorded ritual of Firewalking dates all the way back to 1200 BC during the Iron Age, where two Brahmin priests took a Firewalk together as a competition. The competition stated that whoever walked the furthest on the hot coals was the victor and had their accomplishment documented.

The Healing Powers of Fire

Healing ceremonies were one of the main purposes of Firewalking throughout its history. During the 17th Century, a Jesuit priest was one of the first people to see a healing Firewalk. The walk was performed by Native Americans in North America. In his letter back to his superior he stated that ‘the sick woman walked through the hot embers bottomless and barefoot. She did not scream or get burned’ and that ‘she could not feel the heat from it at all’.

Rachel Streeter is a certified Sundoor Fire walking Instructor and Empowerment Coach having trained with the Logi Fire walking school and is ready to guide people on their fire walking journeys.

Rachel is passionate about encouraging self-belief and self-worth with her clients. She does this through a number of different vehicles such as shamanic healing work, guided meditations and past life discovery, teachings and workshops, community drum circles and now by bringing the kiss of the fire to aid focus, courage, and transformation.

If you would like to bring the power of the fire walk to your special retreat, event, festival or party just drop us an email with your ideas and Rachel will be in touch.
