SHAMANIC HEALING PRACTICE Bexhill-on-Sea, East Sussex
Firewalking isn’t just ‘mind-over-matter’, it’s a symbolic experience that encourages people to take on any challenge in their life, and therefore improving overall quality of life and positive outcomes. Firewalking is a chance to ‘walk towards your dream’ rather than putting up barriers or obstacles for self-development and happiness.
After all, if you can make it through the fire, you can make it through anything right?
Many of the people who have completed the firewalk report a renewed certainty and clarity that carries them forward in their lives. While their circumstances vary widely, participants report less stress and anxiety after the firewalk, and a heightened sense of elation, pride and connectivity with those around them and the fire itself.
The fire has encouraged them to find the inner strength to address what’s holding them back in their career, their health or in their relationships.
The lesson of the firewalk is not about the fire, it’s about what it takes to get through it – which can be applied to any aspect of a person’s life.
The fire can even be your teacher by flagging up any areas of concern in the body and giving you a general health check. It occasionally does this by showing a small pink area on the foot which we like to call a ‘fire kiss’ after you have walked the coals. By checking that pick blotch against a foot chart such as a reflexology chart you can easily identify an area in your body that may need some attention.
The fire never lies and can be a healing medicine for undiagnosed conditions or enduring health conditions.

In a Firewalk, the greatest risk is not believing in yourself and doubting your ability to complete the walk. The coals are hot, but with proper guidance and safety precautions, the experience is safe and has been tried and tested for many centuries.
The First Firewalk
The earliest recorded ritual of Firewalking dates all the way back to 1200 BC during the Iron Age, where two Brahmin priests took a Firewalk together as a competition. The competition stated that whoever walked the furthest on the hot coals was the victor and had their accomplishment documented.
The Healing Powers of Fire
Healing ceremonies were one of the main purposes of Firewalking throughout its history. During the 17th Century, a Jesuit priest was one of the first people to see a healing Firewalk. The walk was performed by Native Americans in North America. In his letter back to his superior he stated that ‘the sick woman walked through the hot embers bottomless and barefoot. She did not scream or get burned’ and that ‘she could not feel the heat from it at all’.
